Giant GTA 6 banner near Paris leaves two guns out of the cover art

Kotaku reported on October 15, 2026 that a giant GTA 6 advert just outside Paris leaves out two guns that appear in the game’s official cover art. According to Kotaku, fans spotted the change by comparing the banner with the original image. No official reason has been given.

The banner covers the Ponant tower of Les Mercuriales at Porte de Bagnolet, in Seine-Saint-Denis, beside the Paris ring road. Journal du Geek and Numerama both say work on it began on October 6. Journal du Geek reported that Bagnolet’s town hall confirmed it had granted a permit under local advertising rules. A large "19" at the bottom of the art points to the November 19 release date.

Two weapons are missing. In the top middle panel, which shows Lucia and Jason, Lucia’s pistol has been removed along with the hand holding it. In the bottom middle panel, an assault rifle is gone, leaving a character’s hand raised in the air with nothing in front of it.

Kotaku’s Zack Zwiezen offered two guesses: the tower’s owners may not have wanted giant guns on the building, or Paris may have rules on gun advertising that he did not know about. Neither has been confirmed. Numerama said on October 16 that Rockstar Games and Bagnolet’s town hall had not answered its questions by the time it published.

Kotaku noted that GTA 6 banners and murals in the United States, such as one in New York, still include the guns. Numerama, pointing to a Reddit post, said a large GTA 6 advert in Times Square also seemed to be missing its guns, which has not been confirmed. Journal du Geek reported that a second artwork showing Jason and Lucia had started going up on the sides of the towers.
