Sensor Tower estimates 89% of GTA 6 pre-orders are Ultimate Edition

This is an outside estimate, not official data. On August 13, 2026, GamesIndustry.biz reported that market-data firm Sensor Tower estimated 89% of GTA VI pre-orders were for the $99.99 Ultimate Edition. Rockstar and Take-Two have not confirmed the figure.

The share was similar on both consoles, according to Sensor Tower: 90% on Xbox Series X|S and 88.5% on PS5. Its sales tracker put total pre-orders at about 4.3 million at the time, with 77% on PlayStation.

Karl Kontus, senior vice president and general manager of Video Game Insights at Sensor Tower, told GamesIndustry.biz: “I have never seen a 90% premium share before.” He said a typical premium share for a game is around 10 to 20%. He expects the Ultimate Edition’s share to fall as more casual buyers arrive, with most orders expected in the final week or so before release, but probably to stay well above the usual level.

Three days earlier, in a CNBC interview on August 10, Take-Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick said pre-orders were “skewing more to the premium edition”, but gave no numbers. He suggested that might be because “the most avid consumers are the ones who are pre-ordering.” Take-Two has not published pre-order totals or a split by edition.

The Ultimate Edition costs $99.99, $20 more than the $79.99 standard game. Rockstar says it adds exclusive vehicles, weapons, clothing and other extras tied to Jason and Lucia’s story. Our Ultimate Edition page lists what is included.
