GTA 6 is rated M by the ESRB and 18 by PEGI

The ESRB has given Grand Theft Auto VI an M rating, for players 17 and older, and PEGI has rated it 18. Both ratings appeared on the game’s PlayStation Store pages at the start of October 2026. The ESRB rating now also shows on the ESRB’s own website and on Rockstar’s GTA VI site.

There are seven ESRB content descriptors, the same seven GTA 5 got. They cover blood and gore, intense violence, nudity and strong sexual content, plus strong language, mature humor and the use of drugs and alcohol. The ESRB also flags in-game purchases, and Sony’s store marks those purchases as optional.

The UK PlayStation Store shows PEGI 18 with four descriptors: violence, sexual content, drugs and in-game purchases. In Australia, the store shows an R 18+ rating from the Classification Board, with drug use, high impact violence and sex scenes listed. New Zealand’s store shows R18 and also lists sex scenes, along with drug use, graphic violence, nudity and offensive language.

Australia and New Zealand are the only ones of these to name sex scenes. The ESRB and PEGI use broader labels about sexual content. GamesRadar+ took that wording as a sign that GTA 6 may be more explicit than GTA 5. That is an outlet’s reading of a label, not something Rockstar has said.

On October 2, GamesRadar+ also reported on a longer content summary that PEGI had published. Two days later, PC Gamer said PEGI had deleted it from its website. We could not find GTA VI in PEGI’s online database on October 21, so we could not check that text and have not repeated its details here. GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
