Where the GTA VI map-size estimates come from
A look at how community map-size estimates are produced — and why they disagree so much with each other.

Map-size figures circulate constantly and almost never come with a method attached. The ones that do generally scale trailer shots against known landmarks, or extrapolate from comparisons to GTA V.
Both approaches carry large error bars, which is why published estimates range widely. This item is filed as speculation because that is what it is.
Update, October 2026: Rockstar has since spoken about size. In Game Informer’s September 29 cover story, Aaron Garbut called Leonida its biggest map “by some degree”, and VGC reports he described it as about twice the size of GTA 5’s. Square-mile figures are still estimates.
